i dissected her fren this afternoon during the animal pract!!

poor wallaby,it was shot in the head, n placed on a white tray. this is a female wallaby,to be dissected.

before dissecting, turn it over. belly facing us,get ready scissors..gg to cut from anus upwards towards ribs..this is when my fren STABBED me with her scalpel,while i was kindly sm0othing the fur away for her to see the skin and cut.

ouch!!!!! my left middle finger bled profusely. i was taken to some room where my lecturer helped to attend to my wound. double band aids.

n i dun remember she being apologetic at all. she cares abt the dead animal more than my finger. she's like some psycho cant wait to cut the animal. she practically LEAPED HAPPILY to the animal on the tray when we were taken to the slaughter site. n she like dun wan to lemme dissect at all,i have to keep on finding opportunity to dissect it. its such a RARE chance to dissect such a HUGE animal la.n prob wouldnt get another chance in my lifetime alr,m

ust get my hands dirty no matter what.so i was competing with her to cut the animal. the other fren was so traumatic that she was pinching her nose all the while.poor girl

when i returned from sticking the band aids, the wallaby has alr been cut up.. as u can see, this is wad it looks like inside the animal! the forestomach, hindstomach, small intestines, liver, colon and caecum! at this point of time, the place is full of strong blood and animal stench. five other corpses lying nearby too.gt brushtail possums, padamelons. all dissected. by other groups. lousy,wondering if she purposely stabbed me so tt she can enjoy cutting it herself.

then it was cut further up, to the mouth, whole set of organs inc heart,lungs, oesophagus all lifted out wholesale..hands dirty, so cant take pic of the entire set of organs..bt my fren has it, gg to ask her send me!

then we measured the entire gut length, weighed the individual components of the gut. stench getting stronger n stronger.. nose immune alr. oh yucks! the green digesta inside the stomach all spilled out i cut it. apparently all the green grasses it has been eating. n the poops in the colon.. feel the lumps in the colon..the small intestine is really LONG!!! when we stretched it out.. rather diff to lift it out of the body, cos gotta severe all the mesenteries holding it in place inside the body, attaching it to its muscles. hard work.

wa, we were told UTAS is one of the very few unis who lets students dissect such large animals, esp marsupials!! so this is a once in a lifetime experience! so fun!!!

but my finger hurts like hell.hope i dun get cross infected with some animal disease, having stabbed by the same scalpel tts used to cut the wallaby. lousy, another scar again. n my silver black stain frm last fri still there.
